
President John Dramami Mahama has once again been petitioned to remove another Justice of the Supreme Court, Gabriel Scott Pwamang.
The petitioner, a Ghanaian citizen and member of the Tsie We Family of Teshie, Nii-Adjei Duah is seeking the removal of the senior judge from his position.
The details of the petition are yet to be made public, asaaseradio.com reports.
Dated March 17, 2025, the petition was addressed to the Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo, and copied to the president.
Other persons in copy are the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic, the Judicial Council, the Speaker of Parliament, and Numo Badu Odaano Odiapenser I, Osabu-Ayiku Wulomo of Teshie, Accra.
This comes in the wake of three petitions submitted to the president for the removal of Gertrude Torkornoo as the Chief Justice.
In a communique issued to the public on March 25, 2025, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that President John Dramani Mahama has forwarded three petitions to the Council of State.
“President Mahama has received three (3) petitions from various persons seeking the removal of the Chief Justice.
“The President has forwarded the petitions to the Council of State to commence the consultation process mandated by Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution,” the statement read.
