Mustapha Foyo Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticised the public officials and appointees under the leadership of former President Akufo-Addo, accusing them of unpatriotism.

In an emotional interview on January 9, Mr. Gbande claimed that the actions of the NPP members appeared to be driven by ill intentions, referring to their behaviour as “witchcraft.”

“Although they are our NPP brothers and sisters, their actions reflect something malicious. They did not consider the consequences of their actions, which I believe is witchcraft. Many of the public officers and appointees of the previous government are deeply misguided,” he claimed.

Gbande expressed disbelief at the decisions made by the Akufo-Addo administration, suggesting they were deliberately designed to complicate matters for the incoming NDC government.

He further accused the NPP of hindering the new government’s ability to succeed by intentionally creating obstacles.

Specifically, Gbande questioned why the outgoing government, after losing the election, left behind an energy sector in crisis.

A report by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) revealed that nearly $90 million was urgently required to avoid an impending power crisis, making Gbande’s claims more alarming.

He asked, “Why would a government that has lost an election leave behind such a dangerous situation, especially knowing its negative impact on the lives of Ghanaians?”

The Deputy General Secretary voiced concerns about the NPP’s apparent disregard for the country’s welfare.

“The NPP government did not have Ghana at heart. The harm they have caused makes one question whether these are indeed our brothers and sisters,” he stated on TV3.

Gbande’s harsh comments are expected to stir political controversy as the country faces a difficult transition period.

The ongoing power struggles will likely keep citizens and political observers on edge, eager to see how these accusations will influence the unfolding political dynamics.
