The Professionals Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly advocated for Alban Bagbin to be retained as Speaker of Parliament in the upcoming ninth Parliament.
The Forum praised Bagbin’s leadership as pivotal in strengthening parliamentary democracy and advancing the core values of the NDC.
During an honorary ceremony in Parliament on Saturday, December 28 Sam Pee Yalley, President of the Forum, lauded Bagbin’s dedication to institutional growth and his unique role as a bridge between the NDC and Parliament.
“For those who work closely with you, you are more than just the Speaker of Parliament; you embody the spirit of the NDC. You’ve consistently championed the need for robust institutions like Parliament,” Yalley noted.
He urged NDC Members of Parliament to avoid the mistake of replacing Bagbin, emphasising that the decision is informed by research and aligns with public opinion.
Yalley stressed that Bagbin’s leadership would be indispensable in navigating the complexities of a closely balanced Parliament, where his experience and impartiality are crucial.
The Forum also expressed unwavering confidence in Bagbin’s ability to guide Parliament effectively and pledged their full support for his continued leadership.
