President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his government’s dedication to transforming Ghana through strategic infrastructure development.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, he commissioned the Flower Pot Interchange in Accra, highlighting it as a milestone in the nation’s modernisation efforts.

Describing the project as a “legacy for the future”, President Akufo-Addo expressed pride in delivering what he called a clear testament to his government’s commitment to building a modern, inclusive, and forward-looking Ghana.

“It is with considerable pride and singular honour that I declare the Flower Pot Interchange duly commissioned. This moment is not merely about the opening of a new piece of infrastructure; it is about unveiling a vision for Ghana’s future, one driven by lasting progress, inclusivity, and national pride,” the President said.

Reflecting on his administration’s journey since 2017, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed the commitment he made upon taking office to transform Ghana’s infrastructure landscape.

Highlighting the critical role of roads in national development, he emphasized that they are not just physical links but powerful drivers of opportunity, economic growth, and an enhanced quality of life for all Ghanaians.

“When we assumed office in 2017, we knew that true national development rests upon the foundation of well-planned and well-executed infrastructure. Roads are pathways to opportunity, prosperity, and a better quality of life for all.”

The President emphasised that the Flower Pot Interchange is a clear example of his government’s commitment to progress.

“Today, with this interchange, we reaffirm that our commitment to progress is more than rhetoric—it is action built in stone and steel.”

The Flower Pot Interchange, located along the Spintex Road, is a significant addition to Ghana’s transport infrastructure. Featuring a flyover and an underpass, the interchange is designed to improve north-south traffic flow, easing congestion in one of Accra’s busiest areas.

Construction of the Flower Pot Interchange began in 2017 and is set to significantly enhance connectivity along the Accra-Tema Motorway, linking the northern and southern regions.

It will ease travel for commuters moving between areas like East Legon and Madina to destinations such as Teshie, Spintex, La, and 37.

The project promises to improve the daily commute for thousands of Ghanaians, reduce travel time, and support economic growth and urban development.

President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his commitment to building a Ghana that works for everyone, emphasizing the importance of delivering infrastructure that directly improves the lives of all citizens.

“This interchange is not just a piece of infrastructure; it is a testament to our commitment to building a new Ghana, one that works for every citizen. It is a privilege for me and a proud moment for the nation,” he said.
