Mr. Kofi Marfo, affectionately known as Sir Richie and the esteemed founder of the Sir Richie Foundation, recently made a heartfelt visit to the Assin Breku Orphanage. Based in London, UK, Mr. Marfo passionately addressed the management of the orphanage, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the generous donation reaches those who need it most.
In his remarks during the donation presentation, he conveyed that this act of kindness was not only a gift but a powerful message of encouragement to the orphanage community. Mr. Owusu Ansah, affectionately known as Paa K, received the donations on behalf of the Assin Breku Orphanage Association. He shared that the children residing in the orphanage come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Some were sadly abandoned or lost their mothers at birth, while others have faced ostracism from their families and communities, often due to various religious beliefs. Additionally, there are those who have become orphans, left to navigate life without parental care.
The Assin Breku Orphans Association has been dedicated to supporting children in need since its founding in January 2011. Currently, the association cares for over 178 children, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. A key ambition of the organization is to construct a dedicated residence for these orphans, ensuring they have a stable home.
In addition to addressing immediate needs, the association is actively involved in cultivating palm nut trees. This sustainable agricultural initiative is designed to generate income, which will be used to further support the orphanage and its programs.
Thanks to the efforts of the association, many orphans have been given opportunities to pursue promising careers. Some have successfully joined the immigration service, police force, and fire service, while others have gained valuable skills through vocational training. The association has also seen some of its former orphans excel in careers as teachers and nurses, contributing positively to their communities. Through these initiatives, the Assin Breku Orphans Association not only provides for the children’s current needs but also empowers them to build a brighter future.
