The Electoral Commission (EC) has reiterated its commitment to conducting a flawless electoral process to uphold public trust and democratic values in this year’s elections.

To achieve this, the EC has initiated a strategic recruitment plan, hiring over 200 professionals with expertise in mathematics, statistics, and other quantitative fields to strengthen the credibility and reliability of the election results.

Addressing the media, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson, detailed the Commission’s preparations, emphasizing the significance of transparency and accuracy in the upcoming elections.

He added that the EC’s dedication to preventing both minor and significant errors could potentially impact public confidence.

He highlighted that the newly recruited specialists bring robust analytical skills to support precise data collation, vote tabulation, and statistical analysis, which are essential for an accurate and trustworthy electoral process.

“The Commission has already recruited over 280,000 individuals who are going to work on this election. We have also recruited people who are going to help with the collation.

“These are people who have a background in mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics and will be assisting with quantitative methods. So they are going to assist the returning officers at the constituency level,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the EC has vehemently refuted allegations of printing extra ballot papers for the 2024 general elections.
