Some New Patriotic Party(NPP) campaigners narrowly escaped death as they were ambushed and attacked by unidentified gunmen at Asante Akim North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The campaigners were specifically attacked by the suspects at Kowirem in Agogo while on their way from campaign activities.
Reports indicate that the victims were standing by their pick-up, with the registration number GR 7757-24, when the suspects appeared in an unregistered Range Rover, crossed them and started firing indiscriminately.
They seized the pick-up keys, took away their mobile phones and drove away, amidst gunshots.
The victims proceeded to lodge an official complaint with the police.
Later, police investigators were dispatched to the scene, where shells of ammunition were found following the sporadic shooting.
The police have assured that the perpetrators will be arrested to face the law.
