The Accra Circuit Court has discharged four more protesters from the Democracy Hub pressure group after the state dropped all charges against them.
The state prosecution on Thursday, October 24, told the court that they had filed new charges which they intended to substitute with the previous one filed on September 25 against the protesters.
The individuals discharged are Cedric Bansah, Emmanuel Offei, Nana Amo Mensah Prempeh, and Thomas Yeboah.
This latest development brings the total number of discharged protesters to 20, as the court continues to address cases stemming from the Democracy Hub demonstrations.
A total of 53 protesters were arrested during the three-day protest, which occurred from September 21 to September 23.
Before this, seven protesters were discharged in a similar decision on Tuesday, October 22, and nine were also released a few weeks ago.
During the protests, the suspects reportedly set fires, blocked roads, and engaged in behaviour that disrupted traffic and endangered public safety.
The police, in response, had to divert traffic and deploy officers to maintain order.
