Black Stars coach Otto Addo has declined to promise a victory against Sudan in the upcoming second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana’s goalless draw against Sudan’s Falcons at Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday left the Black Stars searching for their first win in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

With two draws and one loss, they sit third in Group F.

As the team prepares for the return leg at Martyrs of February Stadium on Tuesday, October 15, Coach Addo acknowledged football’s unpredictability, saying he cannot guarantee a win.

However, the 45-year-old coach expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and determination to capitalize on missed chances from the Accra match.

“This assurance everybody is talking about, for what? This is football, and I cannot even assure. You know what I can assure? We will try our best, and I know that in the end, we’ll be rewarded. And the positive thing is, it’s still in our own hands. We have to win the next game,” he said.

“And then, if we don’t qualify, then it’s still a long way. It’s going to be very, very tough to the last match, but we will do it with this performance again. We will do it in Libya against Sudan,” Addo added.

The return leg is set to kick off at 13:00 GMT.
