The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reiterated the party’s commitment to establishing a Women’s Development Bank(WDB) if given the nod in the 2024 general election.

Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch on Saturday, August 24, 2024, she clarified that the bank will empower female entrepreneurs who face challenges accessing loans from financial institutions.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the next NDC government will create more job opportunities, reduce financial barriers, and boost the businesses of female entrepreneurs.

“The Women’s Development Bank will be established to empower female entrepreneurs and small business owners by providing low-interest loans, financial education and sustainable support.

“This initiative will create job opportunities and bring down the financial barriers that many women face when starting and sustaining businesses,” Prof Opoku-Agyemang said.

She also explained that the initiative would boost the businesses of female entrepreneurs and curb the harassment they often face when seeking loans.

“Additionally, the bank will provide women-led businesses with advisory services and low-interest loans, further supporting their growth and success,” she noted.
