The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM), has held its 12th Conferral and 16th Graduation Ceremony under the theme, “Transforming HR through Emerging Technologies: Leveraging AI and Data Science for Competitive Advantage.”

Presenting the theme, the Guest Speaker, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, Chie Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, informed the graduates to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as an efficient tool for improving HR service delivery.

She also stressed the need for employees to undergo digital awareness training, indicating that technology is the new flavour for building an inclusive workplace.

The President of CIHRM, Dr. Edward Kwapong, congratulated the graduates for their dedication and perseverance and urged them to integrate the 7Ps of human resource management into their practices: professionalism, proficiency, principle outlook, performance orientation, people centrism, partnership, and proactiveness.

He urged the graduates to appreciate the evolution of the HR profession, adding that HR professionals should elevate HR from an administrative function to a business partner and ultimately to a strategic business partner.

In his welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CIHRM Ghana, Dr. Francis Eduku, emphasised that the enactment of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1020) and Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2472) signifies that the Human Resource Management profession has now arrived in Ghana.

He encouraged the graduates to continue to sharpen their professional knowledge and skills by attending the Institute’s continuing professional development programmes and world-class conferences.

He added that human resource management is a foundational pillar for building prosperous nations and urged the graduates to join the professional crusade to implement bleeding-edge HR practices in their organizations.

In all, a Chartered Human Resource Management Practitioner status was conferred on 55 Level 4 students, while 133 Level 3 students were inducted into the Institute as Associate Members.
