Sunday, June 16, 2024, was celebrated as this year’s International Father’s Day.
In honor of the day dedicated to celebrating fathers, a photograph of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with his biological father, Ohenenana Kwame Boakye Dankwa, has been shared on social media.
The uncommon photograph shows a youthful Otumfuo, formerly known as Nana Kwaku Duah, dressed in a shirt and tie, standing next to his older father.
Both men are sporting wide smiles that highlight their striking resemblance.
Ohenenana Kwame Boakye Dankwa originated from the village of Kantinkyiren in the Atwima District of the Ashanti Region in Ghana.
He followed in his father’s footsteps, Nana Kwaku Duah Agari, becoming Brahyiahene. He also held the title of Brehyia Duke of Asante and passed away on January 1, 2002, in Kumasi.
