Two Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims have reportedly died from various health complications in Saudi Arabia.

The deceased persons, believed to be from Damongo in the Savannah region, passed away on Sunday, June 9, and Wednesday, June 12, respectively.

The Chairman of the Hajj Board, Alhaji Ben Abdullah Banda, confirmed the news and indicated that the deceased persons had been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.

He also disclosed that a Ghanaian pilgrim gave birth in the Holy City of Mecca on Wednesday, June 13, 2024.

“So far so good, except that we have had two deaths, two of our pilgrims have died. And then we have had one delivery also. One of our pilgrim women has delivered a bouncy baby,” he noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report with Channel One News.

Two years ago, a similar incident was recorded as male and female Ghanaians lost their lives during the pilgrimage.

The director of the Medical Department of the Ghana Hajj Board at the time indicated that the lady died when she was saying one of the five daily prayers.

She fell down during the prayers, and by the time she was attended to by members of the medical team, she had passed on.

The male pilgrim passed on at the King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Mecca, where he was on admission for two weeks, suffering from a high sugar level in his body, the director said.

Both pilgrims, he added, died even before the commencement of the Hajj rituals.
