The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold a run-off to determine fate of Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko, who both secured the fifth spot.

Addressing the media, the Chairman of the elections committee, Prof Mike Oquaye made this known shortly after the Electoral Commission announced the official results placing the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in first place, Kennedy Agyapong in second, Alan Kyerematen in third and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto in fourth place.

Prof Oquaye emphasized that the conference was designed to identify five candidates who would proceed to the national delegates conference in November, this year.

The emergence of a tie between two candidates has prompted the need for an additional selection process to determine the final candidate to complete the top five.

However, should one of the tied candidates voluntarily withdraw in favor of another contender prior to the tie-breaker, the party would forgo the tie-breaker process.

The NPP’s Chairman expressed confidence that the party’s forthcoming delegates conference in November will proceed with clarity and determination, as the selected flagbearer will bear the aspirations and vision of the NPP into the electoral arena.
