The Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Jerry Kofi Hinson, has resigned from his position, citing health grounds as the reason for his departure.

Mr Hinson submitted his formal resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, copying the board of directors of TOR and the Minister for Energy.

Jerry Kofi Hinson, who previously served as the executive director of Minecom’s oil and gas business unit, assumed the role of managing director at Tema Oil Refinery in March 2022.

His appointment followed the dismissal of the former managing director, Francis Boateng, and his deputy, Ato Morrison, in June 2021.

During his tenure, Hinson became the fourth managing director of TOR under the government of President Akufo-Addo. One of his notable tasks was to identify a suitable partner for TOR’s revitalization, a process that led to the selection of a potential partner to revamp the refinery’s operations in a sustainable and profitable manner.

In his resignation letter, dated August 11, 2023, Hinson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his capacity for the past 18 months.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of his duties during the agreed handover/transition period with the Board of Directors.

Mr Hinson conveyed his regret at stepping down from the role due to unforeseen health circumstances.

He then extended his appreciation to those who granted him the opportunity to serve the country at this significant level.
