Madina Member of Parliament Francis Xavier Sosu has been discharged by the Kaneshie District Court.

It will be recalled that the Human Rights lawyer was arrested sometime in October 2021 for unlawfully blocking a public road and causing destruction to public property.

This was at the time when the MP led some of his constituents to demonstrate against poor roads in the constituency. He was subsequently arraigned and charged.

However, the charges were struck out on Monday, April 17, 2023, by the court presided over by His Honour Oheneba Kuffuor for want of prosecution.

The legislator throughout the trial maintained that he was doing his parliamentary duties to hold the government accountable and that he acted within the limits of the law.

He expressed his satisfaction with the court’s decision, describing it as a clear confirmation of his stance that the police were behaving contrary to the law.

An excited Sosu used the opportunity to thank the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and everyone who supported his struggle.
