Fire has destroyed eight shops and two living rooms at Sehwi Dwenase, a suburb of Sehwi Wiawso in the Western North Region. The Ghana Health Service has confirmed 12 additional cases of Lassa fever in the country. This brings to 14 the total number of confirmed cases for this outbreak. One death has so far been recorded. The Minerals Commission is to install tracking devices on 4,000 excavators and earthmoving equipment as part of measures to clamp down on illegal mining activities. Currently, 75 excavators have been affixed with tracking devices and their activities are being monitored from a control room at the commission.
