Eight persons out of the eleven passengers onboard a canoe have died after it capsized on the Oti River. The accident is reported to have happened on Monday, March 27. The passengers were mourners traveling from Kpajoti, a village in the Krachi Nchumuru District to Sabaja in the Krachi West Municipality. According to the Assemblyman of the Woringa Electoral area in the Oti region Francis Yaw Bio, the Canoe was supposed to carry six passengers but the operator carried eleven passengers. A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing from patients at the Koforidua Regional Hospital. The modus operandi of the suspect, Gabriel Oti Ankrah, is to wear a lab coat and parade himself as a doctor to steal from unsuspecting victims. On a daily basis, issues of missing laptops, mobile phones and parts of air conditioners are reported to the hospital’s internal security but the culprit was never found. The M25 has been closed for a three-junction stretch after a car crash involving three vehicles late on Monday night. The road is closed between junction 14 (Stanwell Park/Heathrow Airport) and junction 16 (M40) while the Met Police are at the scene investigating the collision between a car and an HGV, which took place shortly before midnight on Monday. A teachers’ union boss has refused to rule out calling strikes on school exam days after recommending members turn down a government pay offer.
