The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has revealed that 36 oil marketing companies (OMCs) owe the NPA GH¢193m ($32m USD). Of the total amount owed, approximately 80% is owed by eight out of the 36 companies. Some of the OMCs have also failed to renew their licenses for over two years, resulting in the revocation of their licenses. Ghanaian diets are becoming more westernised and generally suboptimal, a needs assessment study conducted by a team from the School of Public Health of the University of Ghana, has revealed. This means that Ghanaians are now consuming diets that look like those of Western countries, a co-chair of the team, who is also a lecturer at the School of Public Health of the University of Ghana, Professor Richmond Aryeetey, explained. A community has been left shaken after a group armed with samurai swords and machetes stormed through their town. The alarm was raised in the early hours of this morning following a ‘public order incident’ on Regents Street in Reading. Officers were made aware of a group of people with weapons at around 3am, Thames Valley Police said. The weapons included samurai swords and machetes.
