The Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has refuted claims by renowned broadcast journalist Captain Godsbrain Blessed Smart that he owes him money.
During an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr. Akpaloo disclosed that Captain Smart falsely claimed he (Akpaloo) borrowed money from him to pay off some people he allegedly owed.
“Does Captain Smart have money? I have been the one giving him money for his upkeep. He can’t give me money,” he rebuffed angrily.
Mr. Akpaloo further alleged that Captain Smart used to defraud people when he was working at Adom FM as a morning show host, challenging him to deny such claims.
“Ask him how many times he has been arrested for defrauding innocent people,” Kofi Akpaloo dared.
The presidential candidate denied Captain Smart’s claims of paying off his debt, recounting how Smart lied against him.
Kofi Akpaloo disclosed that he organized a program and invited some people to cover and grace the event, but uninvited guests also showed up. These uninvited guests were not considered when payments were made to those officially invited to cover the event.
According to him, he later heard accusations from some people, claiming he owed them money after he refused to pay them for attending his program.
He stated that he never asked Captain Smart to pay off the debt and, therefore, does not owe him as claimed.
