In a bid to address concerns over the fate of Ghana’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to engage parents and students on November 10, 2024.
The event, dubbed “Protecting Free SHS, Providing Skills for Jobs – The Bawumia Plan,” will outline his vision for Ghana’s education sector.
The Bawumia Plan
Dr. Bawumia’s plan focuses on protecting and deepening the quality of education from kindergarten to Free SHS and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, will provide insight into the NPP’s emphasis on STEM education.
Additionally, Dr. Bawumia will assure SHS graduates of his commitment to making tertiary education accessible, ensuring financial constraints no longer hinder university education.
Addressing Unemployment
Last Sunday, Dr. Bawumia shared his bold plans to create four million jobs over the next eight years, prioritizing youth employment.
He aims to train one million Ghanaian youth in ICT skills, enabling them to work in the sector both locally and abroad.
This initiative aligns with his goal of providing every young person in Ghana with the knowledge and skills necessary for a productive, dignified life.
