A presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has condemned corruption, cronyism, arrogance and celebration of mediocrity as banes to the progress of Ghana. He has made his position clear that his presidency will champion the cultural heritage of Ghana as a sine qua non of any modernisation process.
Speaking to the nation just days after his resignation from government, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten said, it is time the citizens of the nation approach things in most diligent and patriotic manner to get Ghana working towards a shared prosperity. He considered this national service a double-edged sword in which managers of the public purse do not dissipate resources on selfish interests but productive gain and promotion of social welfare of the people.
He admitted Ghana is in one of its worst economic crisis aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Until then, he said, the country had posted strong economic performance under the current government which he had been part for six long years. Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten said it is time Ghana leverages on her immense resources for a turnaround. He called it the spectre of a country having run to the International Monetary Fund, IMF, on seven occasions, which ought to be changed with homegrown solutions that are pointed outwards for increased international trade.
*”To avoid going back to the IMF, we need a new plan. A plan that will lead us to self-reliance and more resilient economy. It must move us from stability and growth to a transformation”*, he added.
His speech touched on a dozen point agenda that included agricultural and industrial revolutions, rapid infrastructural development, a scientific and innovative base for processes towards a national renewal, and a holistic national security plan with its kernel being the monitoring of the interplay of forces on public welfare.
He intimated that as he campaigns around the country, further explanation will attend his agenda for Ghana.
