
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George, has announced that the upcoming SIM card re-registration in June will be done digitally to avoid long queues.
This initiative also aims at simplifying the process of registration for Ghanaians.
The minister revealed this during his visit to Margins ID Group (Intelligent Card Production Systems) in Accra on April 8, 2025.
According to the minister, an automated system will handle the verification of personal information, which will greatly reduce processing times.
This improved method is anticipated to save citizens valuable time while enhancing accuracy, ensuring a smoother registration experience.
It will be recalled that the SIM card re-registration initiative launched in 2021 has seen several deadline extensions due to low registration rates.
