Several footballers were injured in a serious road accident at Tuba Junction on the Accra-Kasoa Highway when their vehicle collided with a fuel tanker.
The crash involved a Sprinter bus with the registration number GW-7110-22 and a fuel tanker truck with the registration number GN-9568-12.
Reports indicate that the Sprinter bus, carrying the footballers, was traveling from Accra, while the tanker was coming from Kasoa toward Accra.
Eyewitnesses narrated that the accident happened when the Sprinter driver attempted a U-turn at Tuba Junction, resulting in a collision with the oncoming fuel tanker and a violent impact that injured several passengers.
Fire service personnel from Weija quickly responded to the scene, providing assistance and helping transport the injured to Amanfrom Polyclinic and Akaway Hospital in Weija for treatment.
In an alarming move, some residents hurried to the scene with containers to collect the fuel spilt from the tanker, raising concerns about potential safety hazards.
