An accident involving a Kia Grandbird bus with registration number GT 6068-19 and a Kia Rhino truck with registration number GR 7968-20 has resulted in the death of six persons.
Several others were left injured in the accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, on the Tamale-Kumasi Highway.
The suspect driver in charge of the KIA Granbird bus was transporting 28 passengers from Kumasi to Tamale.
Upon reaching a section of the road at Mile 40, the bus collided head-on with the KIA Rhino carrying watermelons from Daboya to Goaso.
The injured victims were rushed to the Central Gonja District Hospital in Buipe for treatment.
Unfortunately, three male adults, including both drivers, two females, and a child, died on the spot.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Buipe was called to the scene to assist in extricating victims and clearing the accident site.
Their bodies have been deposited at the Central Gonja District Hospital morgue for preservation, pending autopsy.
