Flagbearer and Founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, aka Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has served notice to eject President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from his Nima residence if he is elected president.
Speaking on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa FM, Osofo Kyiri Abosom said the current residence of the president is on a land that was forcefully acquired by the president’s father when he became a ceremonial president in the early 1970s.
“You have been seeing Akufo-Addo; he lives very close by. Does he have any vision? If he did, he would not still be living here. Why won’t he be living in his mansion but still living in his father’s house? I will evict him from this area if I become president.
“That land belonged to the Nima Police Station before his father [ceremonial president] took it and built on it. Ask Akufo-Addo; he will tell you that initially, his father was not staying there. He took that land when he became the ceremonial president. We will take that land back and expand the Nima Police Station. I have the old pictures of how the place used to look like.”
He added that as president, he will not resettle Akufo-Addo, who will then be an ex-president when he evicts him from Nima.
“Why should we get him another place to stay? Has he not made any properties in his life? We have paid you for serving us; why should he accommodate you again when you leave office? Has the state given any teacher who has taught for years accommodation after retiring? Has the nurse been given accommodation? The president must be able to build with the money he’s paid. I will scrap ex-gratia when I become president,” Osofo Kyiri Abosom stated.
