The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has revealed that the ministry will undertake a limited recruitment exercise targeting Senior High School (SHS) teachers across the nation.
In a Facebook post dated July 30, 2024, the minister said the recruitment will begin next week.
“I’m pleased to announce that a limited recruitment drive for high school teachers will commence next week. Stay tuned for more details on how to apply and the specific areas of focus for this recruitment,” he said.
This comes after the Ghana Education Service (GES) introduced a self-placement system for newly qualified teachers who have completed their degree programmes at colleges of education and passed their licensure exams.
In May 2024, GES called for applications to recruit the 2022 batch of trained teachers who graduated from public colleges of education.
This followed an approval from the Ministry of Finance.
The service said 21,010 candidates applied following the invitation.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, July 4, 2024, the Director-General of GES, Dr Eric Nkansah, said the 12,784 qualified teachers are to complete the self-placement process.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has granted financial clearance for the recruitment of 15,200 nurses and midwives nationwide.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Health Ministry on Friday, July 26, 2024.
According to the statement, the recruitment process will commence on Monday, August 5, 2024.
Qualified applicants are expected to visit the Health Ministry’s website to follow the necessary application guidelines.
The deadline for submitting applications is set for Friday, August 23, 2024.
