The Circuit Court at Tokor has remanded four staff members of the Somé Senior High School (SHS) at Agbozume in the Volta Region for allegedly stealing food items.
The accused include the assistant headmistress in charge of academics, the bursar, the matron, and the storekeeper of the school.
They were arrested after an alumnus of Somé SHS and an assembly member for Logove Electoral Area intercepted the bursar and matron as they departed the school premises on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Upon inspection, a stash of food items was discovered in both a bag and the car’s trunk.
The food items included tin tomatoes, mackerel, cleaning agents, and insecticide spray, all of which the matron had in her possession.

A further investigation led to the arrest of the assistant headmistress and cook the following day.
They are suspected to be part of a scheme to steal food supplies for Free SHS students.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted three of the accused.
They are Richard Ametorxe, the Bursar, Yorm Dzikumu, the Matron and Alex Obuadi the school’s Storekeeper.
In a statement, GES said the interdiction was with immediate effect pending investigations.
“The three officers are to hand over to the headmaster of the school.
“The investigations committee has been given two weeks to submit its report to Management,” the statement said.
This comes after the three were arrested on Friday and Saturday.
